Solid product
Yes, this thing was made in China but what are we going to do, they all are. I have used this unit several times since I got it and it rides in my SUV everywhere. You can fill up truck tires and smaller items like bicycle tubes just fine. This model has auto shut off so you can use it by only squeezing the triggle, you don't have to keep turning the unit on and off. I like this because I can have the trigger part far away from the pump where the on off swicth is. The unit must be connect to a car battery to work. FYI> I contacted the company here in the USA and they said you "can't" make it run from a transformer if you want to rig it to work from a home recepticle. They also answered a number of other questions, were quick to reply to my email and seemed customer service oriented. I would recommend buying from this manufacturer. Viair 400P-Automatic Function Portable Compressor offers automatic function. The unit contains an onboard pressure switch that allows the unit to run until an internal pressure of 145 PSI is achieved at which point, the compressor will shut off. To start the compressor, attach to a tire valve stem and squeeze the trigger on the supplied gas station style inflation gun. Once air flows out of the unit, the compressor will restart. Generally satisfied
I am generally satisfied with this air compressor. The clamps are well made, unlike the cheap ones on the 300P version. The automatic function is convenient. However, I still wish the power cables and the yellow hose were longer than they are now. I also wish the gauge numbers increment by 10, not 20.

Better Than Expected...
Ideally I wanted an on board air compressor in my new FJ Cruiser for going off road. But I needed an air compressor now, so I opted for the portable kit thinking I would install it at a latter time. Now that I have it in hand and have used it, I am most likely going to keep it as a kit. It works perfectly on the FJ's 32" tires and on my wifes Honda Civic it fills them within seconds. When putting air in bikes, it puts out so much air you have to watch out not to blow the tires. I showed a friend of mine how well it worked and he ordered one for himself that same day.

Viair compressor is an excellent product
The Viair 300 air compressor is an excellent product for both airing down and pumping up my 30 inch tires on my Jeep. You can use it anywhere with the 12 volt cable and pumping tires up is quite a bit faster than other 12 volt systems. I highly recommend it.

Made in China
After burning out two $20 compressors from Harbor Freight, I decided to research online and buy something that really is powerful and works more than one time. The Viair 30033 330P is certainly powerful enough for my little Civic wagon. I don't think it warrants the $170 price tag, but it does seem to be what it claims to be online. There's no way the cords are long enough for a bigger truck or RV. I advise installing a dedicated, hard wired compressor in a big vehicle. The carry case is a cheap nylon bag and the overall quality is high for China: low by my USA standards. You can get it delivered quickly though. Mine arrived next day.
