Everything you never wanted to know about power calculations
Calculations for network analysis, instrumentation, dc machines, transformers, 3 phase induction motors, single phase induction motors, synchronous machines, transmission lines, electric-power networks, load-flow studies, power-system control, short-circuit computations, system grounding, power-system protection, power-system stability, cogeneration, batteries, economic methods, and lighting design are covered in separate chapters. The information is available, it's just not easy to find. Small type makes reading difficult for anything other than short periods.I haven't found any errors in formulae or explanations. The organization is logical and, except for the spacing, easy to follow.Each section has it's own table of contents. The Index is large and appears to encompass most of the important topics in the book.I'm using it to prepare for and take my Professional Engineering Exam and it looks like it will be an excellent reference.... this is the book I'd buy to...

I am the author of this book and wanted to add a few comments to the publisher's remarks.My philosophy in writing this book was to distill all my experience in electrical design so that if I were to be out of the field for a few years, all I would need to refresh my skills would be to study this book. The important NEC Tables are there plus computer drafting methods, AUTOCAD drawings to illustrate technique, sample specifications, and even some computer programs that many designers write for themselves.I also offer some design software via a form in the book for voltage drop, lighting, and short circuit analysis. All these programs are available for free download from my web page. They are very helpful in learning some of the more abstract concepts of electrical design.There are also some sections on basic electrical theory that many contractors and field personnel do not usually know. These concepts are helpful to making their jobs safer and perhaps more interesting...

I have covered this book in length-no other book or handbook comes close in terms of simplicity of it's explaination. The latest ASHRAE Refrigeration Handbook is a good reference to have when using this book as there are cross references.Value for money and looking forward to the next book that would be specific on Ammonia Refrigeration Systems design.

Great info, but not for the average person
I enjoyed reading this book as a more intermediate industrial Mechanic, but for that price I expected a book with glossy pictures. I feel the book was over priced for a bunch of pages with drawings. Just a few black and white pics of equipment, and lots of complicated other stuff. The best pic was the cover. To really teach somebody this field you need to be a lot more visual. I wouldn't recommend this book to a beginner. It would be a bit frustrating. But for someone who just wants a reference book with lots of useful information I think this book is for you.
