For those days when you're not feeling very creative . . .
You know those times when every picture you take seems a little flat? Maybe nothing seems worth shooting. Everything's been shot before. How can you possibly put your stamp on the scene around you?Well, I'm not going to say that the Composer is the magic bullet. But it does help. It makes you see things in a new way, and that's not something you get with every new lens. Household objects, flowers in your garden, the house next door . . . the Lensbaby makes them worth photographing again.However . . . this is not really a walk-around, shoot everything lens. It is manual focus only. I've had mine for about a month, and the manual focus was easier than I thought it would be to get used to, but forget photographing babies or animals with this lens unless they are sleeping. You'll take 100 photos and one will be in focus. Also, it gets a lot harder to tell when you've achieved focus when you move the sweet spot out of the center of the frame.In addition,...

Great lens!
The Lensbaby composer is a great lens! it has the same cool Lensbaby effect as the other Lensbaby lenses, but it's much easier to focus as it has a standard focusing ring and the sweet spot doesn't move from where you've placed it. The composer is a portraitist's, party photographer's, and street photographer's dream!

A great little lens!
This lens is a ton of fun! If you give it a little patience, it will reward you with some amazing photographs. NOTE: if you think you can instantly be creative just because you have this lens, you are wrong. Look for vibrant colors. Experiment with the aperture discs, and maybe get the creative aperture kit (star and heart background blur = dreamy!)Just get it. You'll love it.

Instant Creativity.
This lens takes some getting used to, both in the focusing and metering. If you can get through the first couple of weeks of practice you can produce some very unique shots. I use this for portraits and landscapes and love it when people ask "how??".I am a Photoshop monkey, but this lens creates blur that you just can't duplicate. I love it on my D700 and my D70.

Lens Baby, oh, Baby!
There is a learning curve, like with most new concepts. It takes awhile to find the sweet spot, but it's well worth it. The images are amazing. All I can say is practice, practice, practice and you will be rewarded with stunning images.

Pro Improvements
Huge fan of this combination - the Lensbaby Composer Pro with the Sweet 35 optic. While I purchased the Composer Pro from Amazon with the Double Glass optic, I've been testing the Composer Pro with my Sweet 35 optic (also purchased from Amazon). Such an improvement in terms of control over the first generation or non-pro Lensbaby Composer. While I always loved my Composer and the results it produced, I found it difficult to produce consistent results in terms of sharp focus and sweet-spot control. I feel like these issues are now headaches past with the Composer Pro. In essentially all of my test shots, right out of the box, the focus and sweet spot is just as and where I intended. Wish I'd had this lens with me a few weeks ago when I went on a photo trip to Italy, but just glad that it exists now and can travel with me on my next photo voyage. The control and ease of use of this new lens with the Sweet 35 optic will be a joy to shoot with. I can't wait!Will try to upload...

Be aware of accessory incompatibility
The Sweet 35 optic is quite nice and deserves all of the praise it gets, but be aware of the following issues:- While it's great that you don't have to switch aperture disks with this one, it also means that you can't use the "creative" aperture disks with it.- The threads on the front of the lens don't fit the macro/teleconverter accessories sold by Lensbaby :(If those issues, or at least the 2nd one, were "fixed" somehow then it would be absolutely perfect.

definitely better than LensBaby 2
The Composer Pro controls sweet-spot and focus definitely better than the Lensbaby 2. The latter's ephemeral, fleeting results were interesting yet non-reproduceable. The Composer Pro is bigger, though. The Sweet 35 optic's image is less attractive than the Lensbaby 2's 50mm in terms of blur and bokeh.I also got the fisheye optic which was a disappointment -- I use fisheyes a lot (mostly for 360-degree panoramas) and I wasn't hoping for much from the Lensbaby fisheye optic anyway but it was less than my low anticipation. Lacks the clarity and contrast of a dedicated prime fisheye.

Needs a space for the aperture tool and disks
It's sturdy.It looks nice, and says Lensbaby in shiny letters.It fits the Muse or Composer lenses just right.But it doesn't have any place to stash the vital aperture-changing tool / aperture-disk holder. That virtually guarantees that the lens and its apertures get separated, leading to frustration. The irony is that the cheap cloth bag that comes with the lens works much better, as it has flexibility to stash the tool inside as well.I suppose if you primarily use the Zone Plate / Pinhole optic, that wouldn't be a big concern.Also, there's no clip or fastener for easily connecting to a camera bag; not a big deal but that'd be nice.Bottom line is: Lensbaby has the opportunity to make a unique case designed for their product, and this isn't. It's just a decently-made generic lens case with the Lensbaby label.

Right sized, well padded, but the zipper's gotta go
This case is the right size for your Lensbaby Composer (or any of the elements), but the zipper is a pain in the a$$. The Lensbaby line already has you fiddling around with aperture disks, the optic swap lid tool, etc. and having to mess with unzipping a zipper just to get to your stuff is another effort for already-full hands. It sounds immaterial, and whiny but you'll see if you use your Lensbaby a lot.They could have used magnets, Velcro, friction, etc. and because the zipper is mounted on fabric, it moves a bit and catches on itself sometimes.I'm glad I have these, but they could have been engineered better that's all. I bought three of these (got one, liked the custom size and protection it offered; then got two others later on). If there were an alternative, I would recommend at least looking at it if you swap out your lens/elements very often.Bottom line: these are well padded, the correct size and are labeled on top so you know it's part of...
