Fabulous accessory for your big screen TV, insane remote
I have this product installed on a 50-inch LCD in my living room. We use it to access six accounts worth of iTunes and overall 6000 songs, about 10,000 pictures, and various home videos we've converted to digital. I love my Kodak player. We use it a lot at parties to play music from playlists (can import or create your own), and to show screen images from the photo collection. (I'd like to be able to email photos from here please Kodak as other parents want pictures as they come up!) The remote is a Wii-like remote that works on the TV, and it's great -- all TVs should have this remote. This would make a great gift for anyone with a digital storehouse of info they want to access on their TV. The only issues I had were that I could not mount a network drive (I store my content on a homeserver) and a minor issue that when reported they sent me a patch. Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to access their content on the TV.

I have one, and it's cool.
The Theatre player is a really unique device because it does so much more than you might gather from just reading about it, and it has such a powerful new user interface. Comparing this to other set-top boxes is like comparing the first Mac to DOS computers, because the Theatre comes with a remote pointer that is so precise and easy to use that you wonder why it's not everywhere already. And just like the first Mac, it makes the applications on your big screen TV much easier to use and more powerful at the same time.Practically speaking, here are some key aspects:1) It displays your photos better than anything else available. Period.2) It navigates and plays YouTube better than anything else on TV. Period.3) It's great for playing music and even Internet radio.4) More features get added over the network.Photos - It's from Kodak so it's no surprise that it does more with photos than anything else. Partly because you have the...

Amazing. I Use It Every Day.
There are so many things to like about the Kodak Theatre HD Player that it's hard to know where to begin. It's a media extender, like many others, but the difference with this one is that it focuses on you and your content. It's not a gateway to an online store where you can spend more money to view content that other people have created. Kodak has made a media extender that focuses on you; your pictures, your movies, and your music (all right, the music was probably created by somebody else). The first thing you notice about the Kodak Theatre is that it's small. I had read the dimensions. I had seen the pictures, but when I opened up that box for the first time and saw this thing, I was stunned. It's small. It's sleek and elegant looking. It looks great when sitting next to my HDTV. It also feels very durable. It feels as though it has a great build quality and that it will last forever. Also, it has no moving parts inside, so it is quiet. In fact, it makes no noise...

Worth the buy!
Even if you saw or taped the television show, this DVD is worth buying. I got a copy of it a couple of months ago from the fan club, so I've already viewed it numerous times. With this DVD, you get two versions of the show: what was aired on CBS and what was taped. The taped version is full of funny outakes, redos (his "frog" at the end of Mandy), interesting talk and even an extra song (Somewhere Down the Road). Also Barry's peronal dialogue is on that version. An entertaining show, an uptempo audience and Manilow's irresistable melodies in top form. Don't miss it!

the TV special on CBS
i saw this TV special on CBS when it came out. a star-studded crowd is on hand, most notably Dennis Franz from 'NYPD Blue'. they sing and dance the night away in this wonderful concert. the setting is a bit more intimate and therefore the atmosphere feels a little "cramped" for the typical high energy Manilow show...nonetheless, it still allows for Barry to sing his lungs off. there's 2 DVDs here. one of them shows the CBS show as it aired and the second DVD shows the rehearsal and the behind the scenes people instructing the audience how to behave since the show was being taped for TV. the Disc that says: "Extended Uncut Version as Taped" is actually the disc that contains the CBS show that aired. And so, the first disc that says "Broadcast Version as Aired" is the one that's for tape and not broadcast! at least that's how they were in the DVD i got! now that i've confused you i'll add that the songs are all great. "They Dance!" and "Turn The Radio Up" have become new 'classics'...

Buy It, Of Course, But...
I've been a Manilow fan since the mid-70s, and it's nice to see him get "re-appreciated" (though his support has always been there and I haven't gone to a show that wasn't sold out). His performance is terrific, as usual. The show is "greatest hits" set, but with so many hits over the years, there's so much uncovered and this release will only leave a fan wanting more. This is an interesting release, presenting both the TV version and un-cut "portions" of the show (presented in its original full screen aspect ratio and with an option for 5.1 sound that mostly just brings in surrounding crowd noise). It's fascinating to see all the in-between instructions and chatter (turn up your volume high to hear Barry given an inspirational "break a leg" [not in those exact words] and Barry's response right before the show begins). I only find it odd that the supplied Concert List on the DVD indicates that even more songs were performed that night. Was it already decided not to tape...

Meanwhile, Dolby's term atop the theater will start this summer and the company "will continue to update the theatre with innovative, world-class technologies to ensure that the theatre remains state-of-the-art, beginning with the immediate... They've also struck a new 20 year deal with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to keep the Oscars at the 3,400 seat theater: "Under the new contract with the Academy, the Dolby Theatre will host the Academy Awards through 2033.

And thanks to a deal announced today by the Academy and Hollywood & Highland owners CIM Group, the Oscars will continue to be held at the same venue, just with a new designation: The Dolby Theatre, named after the nearly-50-year-old audio... Since 2002, the Academy Awards have been held in the Kodak Theatre, a vertiginously tall, state-of-the-art venue in the heart of the Hollywood (technically, the Hollywood & Highland Center). The new deals seem designed in part to allay any concerns about where the Oscars will be held: Both Dolby’s naming agreement and the Academy’s agreement to remain in the theater won’t expire until at least 2033. It was a rather standard negotiating tactic — the Academy’s contract for the Kodak was nearing its expiration — but the two events nonetheless caused a great deal of twitterpation in Hollywood about whether the Oscars would be abandoning the very...

CIM Group dropped the Kodak name from the theater earlier this year after a bankruptcy court judge approved the early exit of 131-year-old Eastman Kodak Co. from a 20-year naming rights deal it signed with CIM Group in 1999. Dolby, which creates audio technologies spanning from homes to theaters, said in a statement that it will use the Hollywood venue to "create a world-class showcase for Dolby's current and future technologies, beginning with the company's... " Sherak said the motion picture academy has approval over the theater's name as part of the deal it negotiated with the theater's previous owner. "We are thrilled that Dolby is now the name of the theater because Dolby stands for excellence," said Tom Sherak, president of the motion picture academy. " Sherak said the motion picture academy, which did not immediately renew its deal with CIM Group last year, briefly considered moving ceremonies to another venue but decided to keep the Oscars in Hollywood.

The venue will now be called the Dolby Theatre, after its new sponsors, Dolby Technologies, following the bankruptcy of Kodak and attempts by the film and camera company to exit its original sponsorship deal.
