Begone, bathroom scale.
My strain-gauge bathroom scale as well as the more traditional spring-loaded one don't give me consistent readings. I could step on and off all day and never get three consistent readings. Even the range of readings fluctuates depending on the weather, positioning, stars and so on.If your scale tops out at 250 lb and you weigh 245, expect to see inaccuracies. If you're 180 lb, the scales are more accurate and precise for that sweet-spot weight (for this example)Now about this one:Assembly is required. But it's minimal and well worth it.- The four-nut install is simple if you place the column as the instructions suggest.- Make sure you tighten and retighten with the provided tool so you don't have to do this again later. Don't use any more force than this tool allows, the nuts seem to be designed to firmly lock the base to the column.- Even hooking up the assembly from the column to the base was designed for...

Which scale?
If you are looking at purchasing a physician's balance beam scale, you understand they are more accurate, repeatable, and durable than other types of scales and over the long run should be cheaper than replacing the regular strain gauge and digital bathroom scales every few years. You have three brand choices: Detecto, Health-o-meter, and Seca. Price isn't a consideration because careful shopping reveals less than a 15 dollar price difference between these three brands when one compares the equivalent models. Before choosing, I searched the net for reviews and information. Finding little, I contacted 7 companies which sell them (5 sold all three, 2 didn't sell Detecto) and 2 firms which calibrate & repair medical scales. I asked each which scale they would purchase for their own home and why. On to the review:Detecto looked like a winner out of the gate. It is the only brand made in the U.S.A. However, looking at pictures I found on the net, the fit and finish did not...

Stop wasting time
This is an extremely reliable scale just like the kind in the doctor's office. It is easily assembled & set up. The results are consistent & the scale is sensitive to 1/4 of a pound. Stop getting on and off those digital and analog scales to get a reliable reading - this one is worth every penny. I should have gotten it years ago.Update: 6/13/2008: I am still happily using this scale without any problems at all. It is still a good match for the doctor's scale & also for my veterinarian's scale when we weigh our dog. This has helped me lose 65 lbs and keep it off.

Easy to set up
Customer Video Review Length:: 0:10 MinsI was afraid the box would be too heavy, or awkward, to handle. I was afraid it would be difficult, or awkward, to set up. Wrong on both counts. There are two main pieces, the base and the pedestal. There are four nuts and a wrench. There is an instruction manual. Ta-da! Up and working. (My only problem was finding a screwdriver for adjusting the zero.) Model 400KL allows you to read weight in either pounds or kilograms, by rotating each of the two bars with the moving weights.

Great set of scales
These are the most accurate set of scales I've ever owned. They were easy to assemble (just attach the base to the top w/ 4 bolts and then screw on the wheels w/ 2 more), simple to zero (twist a screw until the balance hovers in the middle), and accurate (they match to within 1/4 lb. of the scales at my weight loss group). These aren't light, flimsy scales, either, so I'm glad I got the wheel kit. I'm not disappointed.

Worth the price
Purchase this scale for a family of 4, children 2 and 4. We had previously purchased 2 $60 digital scales, but with people in the house who like to press buttons and jump on things, they quickly deteriorated to pieces of modern art. While this scale is more expensive initially, you don't need batteries, there are no circuit boards to get wet, and it doesn't make any interesting beeping noises, it just works. It is easy to put together, however it is on the heavy side, we keep ours in the basement, to over come the OCD desire to weigh ourselves every hour.

Great product, great company!
I thought my old spring scale was accurate. It was still more accurate than the digitals, those I tested were all over the place and could rarely give me the same reading twice. Anyhow, every time I went to the doctor's office, it showed me 4 lbs heavier than my scale. Ordered my weight and beam Healthometer, and sure enough it showed me 4 lbs heavier than the old spring scale. Oh well, now I know I've got a scale I can count on for accuracy. By the way, Wholesale Point shipped this out super quick! Ordered on a Sunday, they shipped on Tuesday and I got it the next day! Man, they are quick! Took three minutes to assemble. I didn't order the wheel kit, it's not really needed, but maybe elderly or some women would prefer that. I won't be moving it much to begin with, but certainly no problem to do so without the wheel kit. I've always wanted one of these scales, and couldn't be happier! excellent product
I run a gym program, where accurate weight is important and where the scale receives moderate to heavy use. There are many scales on the market, of course, and we have tried several electronic and dial step-on scales over the years. They are invariably fast and easy to use, but repeatability is not a strong suit on any of the machines we have tried. The step-ons are accurate to one or two percent, but that is not good enough for our programs. The Seca 700 is a very accurate and well-built scale and is not overly expensive, given its excellent performance. It was easy to assemble. We removed the height rod and attached it to a nearby wall, where it looks great and is very useful to us. We could not be happier with this scale.

The best home scale you could EVER own!!
This is a wonderful and durable scale!! So many family and friends have scales that "weigh heavy" or "Weigh Light", this one just weighs what you weigh. It is always within 1 lb of the doctor office or Weight Watchers. I have had mine for Probably 11 years, and 9 moves. It's durable!! I'm now in the market for a new one only because one of the feet came off and the kids threw it away, so without it being totally even, it's not as accurate. It has about a 3lb +/- now. But I've never owned a scale as great as this one, so with it we shall stay!!
