Saved my baby's life
My baby had RSV at 7 weeks old, and wasn't bad enough to go into the hospital right away. About 3 am, the monitor went off, and he wasn't breathing. We were able to get to get him breathing again, and he was admitted to the hospital for 8 days after that. If it weren't for the monitor, he would have stopped breathing and we would have not been able to save his life. It is expensive, but worth every penny to have a happy healthy baby now! Best baby monitor, period.
If I could only buy one baby item, it would be this one. It is that wonderful. No baby should be without this monitor. This monitor can save lives, not just tell you when baby is waking up or fussing. We have used this monitor every single day since our baby arrived home - we love it and couldn't sleep without it. We have had a few false alarms when she strays to the edge of the crib mattress but no big deal. SIDS happens and there is no better monitor to protect your baby from being a SIDS victim than this one. We use it every time our baby is in her crib and we've used it in her bassinet as well. It has nice features of being able to adjust the volume on the extra sound piece and being able to turn the ticking sound on/off. The way it works is very simple -- you put the movement sensor underneath the mattress on a hard surface (thin piece of wood works - it even works with just the crib springs underneath) and it detects the baby's movement caused by breathing. My wife used to wake up every 15 minutes or so and check to make sure the baby was still breathing. She was so very worried about SIDS, and at first she insisted the baby sleep in the same room as us so that she could keep an eye on her.We've both been sleeping more soundly now, knowing that the Angelcare Monitor will tell us if there's a problem.This product should also work well for monitoring seniors, but since it monitors for any movement in the bed, a second person in the bed would throw it off.This falls short of a perfect 5 star rating for two reasons:+ It has a sensitivity adjustment knob but at best, sometimes the baby rolls too far away from the sensor and it goes off, and on the same setting we've noted that sometimes when the baby is no longer in the crib (we're standing next to the crib rocking her back to sleep in our arms) it picks up our footsteps as breathing. Great Monitor for Peace of Mind
We have used it with the movement sensor for my son's first year and without the movement sensor for the last 6 months. (My son is now 18 months old.) We love this monitor for several reasons.1. The monitor with movement sensor can be used in a basinet, portable crib, or a regular crib. Just make sure you put a plywood board under the sensor pad if the bottom of the basinet or crib is soft or just a spring base. This helps prevent false alarms. The sensor also packs easily in a suitcase for travel.2. The monitor has a good range and is clear. We have a large house and yard. This monitor works at the complete opposite end of the house and throughout our yard.3. Our son was a preemie and this monitor gave us the piece of mind to sleep at night, especially with the fear of SIDS. It truly detects movement and not just weight. PLEASE READ>>>>>>It was Sunday, January 15 and my husband and I were sound asleep. All of a sudden a hear the alarm from the monitor go off and when I went into my daughter's room, she was facing down on her crib (she turned on her own; she does not sleep on her belly) and I went to turn her and she was blue.It was the most horrific experience my husband and I have ever been through. I screamed for my husband and he came in and gave her rescue breathing (CPR) and with his first breathe, she came back to life. I was on the phone with 911 as he was performing his second breathe and she came back to her normal self 20 minutes later.We don't know how long she was without breathing, but thanks to the monitor, we were alerted in time to save her life. We only have had 2 false alarms since she was born (she is 4 months old) because she was deep sleeping. Excellent! Get it! You won't be sorry
I got this after considerable research on baby movement sensors. I compared features, false alarms, etc. And I can tell you can I have been VERY pleased after using this for 2 months after bringing home out baby from the hospital.Our little 2 month sleeps for 10 hours straight through the night! Why? Because with the Angelcare Movement Sensor, we're not afraid to let him sleep on his belly. Of course, we remove all blankets and the pillow to reduce the chance of SIDs. But I have complete faith in this product.We using the sensor in a basinet for now. Make sure the sensor is under a wooden board. I think the people who have had bad luck with this product maybe didn't follow these directions.The sensor has gone off twice. Once when he was 2 weeks old and later when he was 6 weeks old. We came running to check him out and he was fine. We'll never know if it was a false signal, but again, I trust my son's life with it. It's eased our sense of fear of...

How the Angelcare Movement Sensor Works A sensor pad is placed under the center of baby’s crib mattress on a flat, hard surface. The nursery unit can be plugged into an electrical outlet or it can operate with four AAA batteries. The same goes for the parents’ unit receivers (two parents’ units included). Turn the parents’ units on by selecting either channel A or B. Make sure they’re set to the same channel as the nursery unit. Set the nursery unit to the desired mode (Sound & Movement, Tic Off, or Sound Only). You may leave one parents’ unit in your bedroom and carry the other with you as you move about the house and yard. Now, depending on the function you’ve selected, you’ll be able to keep track of your baby’s every sound and movement.
Sound Lights Indicator lights on an LED sound bar (on the parents’ unit) allow you to "see" your baby’s sounds if background noises prevent you from hearing baby. As baby’s sounds get louder, more lights illuminate.
Optional "Tic" Feature When the nursery unit is set to Sound & Movement, it will continuously tick with every movement your baby makes. If no movement is detected by the sensor pad beneath baby’s mattress, the ticking will stop.
Movement Indicator Light The movement indicator light is located only on the nursery unit. When the nursery unit is set to Sound & Movement or Tic Off, the movement indicator light will flash green with baby’s every movement. There are a lot of reviews of this product, so let me impart the "Gravy" if you will.1. The motion sensor works and has not had any false alarms ONCE we adjusted the sensitivity. At its least sensitive setting, the unit would alarm. Since adjusting to the "mid level" we have not had a single false alarm... However, if you pick up your kiddo in the middle of the night to change a full diaper, turn the unit off first or you'll wake up your sleeping spouse with the ALARM!2. The sensing unit works fine in a crib without the masonite board. In the basonette, we used two towels on either side to "level" things out. The sensor still worked fine and the thin mattress pad was level.3. The alarm is loud and will wake you up. Good.4. The monitor microphone is sensitive and you can hear every little grunt, so we turn the volume down a little at night. A cry will be loud, grunts are not.5. Our Uniden 5.4gHz phones do NOT... I love this monitor! I am a NICU mom who's first baby came home on a medical grade apnea monitor for apnea of prematurity. This product is the next best thing.This monitor is surprisingly sensitive to the slightest movement. I have it under a mattress, mattress pad, fitted mattress sheet, waterproof mattress cover, AND an inclined sleep positioner! The directions were very clear and the device was very easy to set up. The range on the receivers (parent devices) is excellent even in the 'dead zones' of our house where our cordless phones don't work. The receivers not only give very clear sound but also show the temperature of the room. The receivers also have a sturdy little clip on the back so you can clip it to your shirt and walk around hands free. Oh and the receivers give you a warning when the batteries start to go, it beeps once every 15 seconds or so. I also love the little night light feature on the transmitter. Very good product- no false alarms at all so far, and the sound monitor is cristal clear ( no statics, no noise)- just perfect!The parent monitor has a moving image tha shows the baby is breathing- which is very reasuring when you wake up in the middle of the night to check on your baby.I would suggest to the manufacturer of the product that the parent monitor could show the temperature also in celsius, and that the parent monitor could have a clock( very useful to quickly check the time when your baby wakes crying during the night).
