The BeachTek DXA-5Da is a two-channel, transformer balanced XLR adapter for attaching external microphones and other audio gear to any DSLR camera that has a built-in mic jack. It can also be used with any camcorder or other audio recording device that has a mic jack. The DXA-5Da uses high quality balancing transformers, which are completely noise free for superb audio. The DXA-5Da is very easy to set up and use. It allows you to connect a wide variety of audio devices including professional microphones, wireless systems and even take a feed from a house sound system or mixer. The built-in level meters show the input signal strength at a glance while the trim controls allow you to adjust the input level for optimum recording. The headphone jack lets you monitor the audio that is coming out of the adapter. I am the co-founder of a small hyperlocal video news company. When we started the business we obviously needed to extract as much value out of our gear as possible. Very nice audio addition to your video equipment.
The BeachTek DXA-2T. I just received this wonderful little package today. So far in my initial testing, I really like this little guy. It has 2 balanced XLR connectors, which means, with an XLR connector and a good mic cable, you might go as much as 1,000 ft between the microphone and the camera (though I suppose your camera wouldn't shoot that far) It has very nice Neutrik connectors which are the best in the world. I tested it with a Shure SM57 and thought the audio was very nice. It has a switch so that you can get a single microphone to come into your camera as both left and right channel. It's balanced very well, and my Canon GL-2 had no problem standing on a table with the DXA-2T under it. Overall, my initial impression is that this is a VERY nice piece of gear. There is no phantom power, so you would need another add on piece if you wanted to use a condenser microphone.

Excellent Sound Solution for Interviews, Sturdy Construction
I use this adapter with a Panasonic HDC-TM700K for interviews and have been extremely pleased with its performance. One input is for the stick mic handled by the interviewer and the second input is for a lavalier mic on the subject. This adapter gives me fantastic flexibility for a wide range of voices. For interview situations, it's perfect for my needs.

Had problems with noise until I found out from there helpful support that you need to keep the input on the camera down to 25% and turn up the Beachteck.Great solution for getting decent sound into a Cannon D5 or D7!

Light Weight Cable For Stereo Mics With Limitations
This adapter cable for stereo mics to work with small DV cameras will function but with caveats.First, it's construction is pretty light weight. That means you will have to be "gentle" with it when using it. That's something none of us in the broadcast production field want to worry about since our gear gets pretty beat up.Second, the adapter only has a one foot in length cable on it. This is pretty short and may not reach to wherever the mic input jack is on your camera. That means you would need another short XLR mic cable to extend from the mic to this adapter.So just be aware that this may work fine for some and not work at all for others. I went to Sam Ash music and found a similar adapter cable, heavy duty, and with a longer cable for the same price. It pays to shop around!

Customer Video Review Length:: 5:05 MinsI test the microphone on a Canon HF200 camcorder at the beach with both Ocean and Creek noise in the background. The difference is quite remarkable. Don't turn your speakers up too loud, as the volume changes quite a bit when I go from on board to lavalier microphone. Great lapel mic for the price
The Audio Technica ATR-3350 Lavalier Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone appears to be a nearly identical replacement lavalier mic from the recently discontinued Audio-Technica ATR-35S Lavalier Microphone.Reading some blog advice about video podcasting and playing around a bit with making YouTube videos, "sound" in video is usually the part that makes video quality bad. So I was looking for a reasonably price lapel mic to use. The ATR-3350 is quite inexpensive considering that you can easily spend $200 for a professional model lapel mic.If you read some of the "1" (hate it) reviews from the ATR-35S, they pretty much all related to "low volume issues". The Audio-Technica ATR-35S lavaliere microphone is a higher than average quality microphone. The benefits of the microphone are that the small microphone can clip onto a shirt, or tie with the provided clip. The battery compartment and on/off switch has an additional clip on it to attach to your belt, or pant waist.The overall sound quality for the microphone is astounding considering the price, averaging at about $25, often times less. RODE Rocks!
After spending many days combing the internet and reading review after review I decided to give the RODE VideoMic Directional Camcorder Microphone a try. I wanted something that was good, light, somewhat short and inexpensive. I have a small mini dv camcorder that is only about 5 inches long and didn't want a mic that would get in my viewfinder's shots. The mic sticks out about 5 inches in front of my lens, but manages to stay out of my shots.First let me comment on the sound. This little bugger picks up sounds very well. In a quiet room I can be 40 yards away and still pick up the conversation. The quality is outstanding. The audio compared to the built-in mic in my camcorder is night and day. The Rode is so clear. The price is great. I'm guessing the quality would compare to other mics in the $300 range.My Rode came with a Dead Cat wind screen which resembles a cat's tail. It really saved me some money! Excellent Product for both Professional & Non-Professional
The introduction in the owner's manual states it perfectly. Rode said that when looking for a good camcorder microphone, they were either horrible pieces of junk or super expensive professional models and so they decided to design a mic for this purpose. This model strikes a perfect balance. The quality of this mic is excellent. It is very sensitive and has good directional properties so it rejects noise to the side quite well. Although not meant for picking up sound from long distances it can do quite well from 20 feet away and maybe more.The mount is attached to the mic so this is the only way you can use it and it is made to mount to the standard "shoe" that is on nearly all camcorders. It is a mono microphone but it has a stereo miniphone jack that plugs in the camcorder mic jack and feeds the audio into both channels.
