Great for the price!
Customer Video Review Length:: 3:23 MinsI am using this rig for my Sony NEX-3 camera and Sony Z1U camcorder! The build quality is great with the matte box being all plastic and the frame being metal. Managed to mount it on a tripod and the shoulder mount works well. Does require a lot of tightening and set up time would be around 25min max. I've provided pictures above of my set up for reference. The follow focus has a long enough cord to fit pretty much all lens sizes. The white ring around the follow focus allows me to make measurement markings on it using a sharpe marker and cleans off nicely. Over all nice set for the pro and beginner.

Great little Rig!
The pictures are very accurate to what this thing looks and feels like. I was originally worried it would be light, or that the rails would be some sort of plastic, but its not. This rig has a nice quality feel to it. rails are aluminum I believe, very solid. The follow focus is very solid. I am very happy with this rig. I am 6'1 200lbs and this thing feels great in my hands.A couple things to note. The barn doors are plastic, as well as the hinges for it, its fine for now, but I could imagine them drooping over time, or losing their grip. Metal would be better. Make sure you add weights to the back to balance out the rig otherwise it will be very front heavy.

Great for most applications
I shoot with a 60d. mostly weddings but have been doing more music videos and short films. for weddings this would work but most of the stuff i do i use monopods and tripods for a stable platform. this is great for everything else when you need to look around and get shots you cant get with stable pods.its sturdy (metal) and easy to use. compact also.it has 4 main configurations but with an slr i only see 3 as practical. (shoulder mount close to eye,two handed (2 variations)its also super cheap now. 60$ rather than 200$you can add tons of extras to it if you want. they have 1/4 threads everywhere for lights, mics, and monitors.

Fully customizable, amazing value, get creative!
This product sells under different names, but I believe they are all the same, and this is where you get it cheapest as of today. This mount is fully customizable, you can move everything around and even make some fun custom arrangements. I made something like the Zacuto Target Shooter with this, which retails around 500 dollars I think. The double handle is a little flexy in some situations, but I don't foresee it breaking. Careful, the hex bolts can strip! Five stars for value and usefulness.

Great Item and very versitle
I was very suprised with the rig. I have to say that is alot more than I expected. I used the rig 2 days after recieving it with my Canon T2i to film a wedding. Did the job extremely well. I used it as a shoulder mount with an eye cup attached to the lcd screen. Everything lined up well and was a comfortable fit for over 8 hours of shooting time. One big thing that has the be done to this rig is weight addition to the rear. There is a pre tapped hole on the lower section of the shoulder support grips and all you need to do is go down to the hardware store and get a decently long bolt and a bunch of large washers and add as many as you need until you find a well balanced point. The setup looks professional and does its job well. Highly recommend this item if you are looking for a rig that will not break the bank.

Amazing rig for the price!
When I first saw this pop up on amazon I was very skeptical, I know you usually get what you pay for. After getting this I realized when you spend $500-$1000+ on a rig and follow focus you pay for the brand name (red rock, zaucto, etc).This rig/follow focus seems very sturdy. When I took it out of the box I was expecting a very light cheap set up, but the whole thing has a very high quality feel. The only thing that I could see maybe breaking years down the road are the blue thumb tightening screws since they are plastic.The follow focus is very nice, the whole system has no play. The final gear to the lens has a SMALL amount of play nothing I am concerned about. The gear for the lens stays in place and I have not had any issues, I just need one for each lens now. I trimmed about an inch off the end so I didn't have as much hanging off the end and I can still get around all the lenses I have.The mounting block has 4 tripod mounting holes and...

Very Impressed!
So I have been staring at this item for almost two months now...To say the least i was very skeptical...I finally decided to bite the bullet and make the purchase, I figured the worse that could happen is I loose out on shipping and decide to return it...BUT WHY WOULD I EVER DO THAT! Now that it is in my hands I really don't understand why anyone would spend big bucks on big name brand stuff. I am a video production major and also film weddings and other free lance projects. Trust me this is worth the buy! I have my Canon 7D on it with a 24-105mm L series lens and it fits perfectly. With the easy to adjust follow focus I don't ever foresee running into any problems with any lens purchase.In fewer words...Buy this, You won't regret it.

Overall, the rig is very nice. I'm happy with it. Easy to hold, and the mount is broad enough to use HD DSLR or full sized camcorder like the Canon XH-A1. I have only tried it out around the house, making home movies of our new puppy, but even though there's no counterweight, it isn't heavy on your arms.Hand Grips are comfortable. The machining isn't quite precise, as the holes are VERY tight, and it is difficult to slip the rods through. I needed to pry it open with a flat sided screwdriver. However, the threads are tight and responsive. The thumbscrews are plastic, so we'll see how long they last. But I think it is a great option for newbies who can't afford Zacuto or Cinevate rigs.If you are looking for other options, I would choose eBay. There are better rigs and better prices. I also saw this same item that came straight from the factory for $290. That set includes a chintzy matte box that looks pretty useless (I bought it because I needed a follow focus)...

Decent as a sunshade, not much else
If you are looking for a "Matte Box" with filter slots, you have come to the wrong place. This item is simply a large sun shade for your camera. Don't get me wrong: As a sunshade, I think it is great. It is light and simple to put on or take off your standard Rail rod support system. Either seen as a qualm or benefit, there are no special mounting adapters for your lenses. Instead, the hole accommodates a lens from 42mm(48mm?) to 72mm in circumference.Pros: - Great sunshade - Put on/take off easily - Easy and quick to adjustCons: - The only "anodized black Metal" part of this are the two connected brackets on the bottom (the ones that attach to your rod system). Everything else is plastic, including the blue knobs. - The flaps will probably eventually droop and not hold themselves up, as the little hooks on the flaps are plastic. As long as you are not flipping them up and down all the time, they should last for a while...

Decent, not spectacular!
As anyone who has read my other reviews knows, I am constantly having to remind myself of the price of DSLR/Film-making equipment. There was a time not so long ago, where a Matte box like this would have costed upwards of $300-400! Luckily with the advent of DSLR video, the market was suddenly opened up to Indie Film-makers who (a) didn't need to rent expensive film gear, and (b) needed cheap accessories. Excellent for the price
I've been shooting stills for over 30 years, and Canon digital for the last 6 years. I'm branching into video and bought this magnifier for my 7D so I could use the lcd for critical focusing and viewing in bright sun light - it works great for both. This is one of those rare, relatively inexpensive photo accessories that works great. I think you get more than you pay for. It comes with a plastic frame that has a hard, clear, lcd protector built in. The frame has 3M stick-em around the rim and fits perfectly over the 7D viewfinder. Once the frame is secured to the camera, the magnifier snaps into place, so you don't have to hold it there. The eyepiece has 3x magnification and a diopter adjustment built-in, which is really nice - I don't need to wear my reading glasses to see the lcd clearly for fine focusing. The optics in the eyepiece even appear to be coated! The only thing that concerns me a bit is the durability of the hinge that allows you to flip the magnifier up out of the way...

Fantastic viewfinder at an affordable price!
I have this viewfinder attached to my Canon T2i and it fits perfectly. The viewfinder is affordable and does the job of the outrageously priced Z-Finder. I can't believe how much easer it is to rack focus when I'm filming. I also live in Arizona where the sunlight used to make the LCD screen completely unusable. This viewfinder has solved all my problems with my T2i.

quality vFinder on a budget!
This Hoodeye 3X vFinder is a spectacular value for any serious filmmaker and professional videographer. The construction is solid, materials is superb, and the function is just as it advertise.I film professionally on a 5D mark ii. Although the 5x/10x focus zoom had been a helpful resource during shoot, tracking focus on the move or depicting depth of field on the tiny 3" screen is still a hard task to perform to precision on set. I wasn't sure if the vFinder was helping at first after I mount it on when my lens was still on f/8, however, as soon as I stop up my Sigma 28-70mm to f/2.8, I can immediately tell where the DoF fall off is within the viewfinder.The flip up "viewing mode" also makes reviewing footage on set like a breeze, even in sun light; and if there's a huge crowd review image, just push in the quick release and remove the entire hood to review footages. Some say it is hard to align the screen cover/base mount, but I have no issue at all sticking...
