A moment of grace to last a lifetime
I enjoyed this little parable quite a bit. Dockery does an excellent job of switching narrative voice between young Cameron and Present-Day Cameron, and his personal experience with a moment of grace gives a touching reminder to pay attention to what we say, because we never know who's listening. The story in itself was very cute and very straightforward, but there's a deeper message in the piece that will resonate deeply with parents and children alike.

Perfect for summer teaching
This was well, well worth reading. Great story for teaching values. For a summer sermon, camp lesson, small group, children's lesson, or family time around the camp fire. Buy this book for a good tale spun for entertainment and inspiration. Great writing which pulls you in and keeps you in. Hope this author writes other books.

Product Description

The Note is a true short story of how an eleven year old boy who lived in a rural community experienced grace when something he and a friend had written was discovered in the classroom.

If you have lived in a small town, then you have learned, in a small town there are no secrets, and therefore everyone knows your business. This truth only complicates the problem for a boy who learns every action is followed by a reaction and the reaction he fears the most is how his parents will react to all the trouble he has recently created for himself.

His father is high on justice and believes a belt whipping is the medicine needed for the day when boys cross the line of what is considered to be acceptable behavior. Therefore, rather than own up to the truth he offers a lie that only compounds his troubles. He comes to a place where guilt and fear of exposure force him to step up and suffer the consequences of his actions. In the end he learns something about his father's heart.

In every boy’s life there comes a point when it’s time to grow up. But growing up has never been easy and the lessons learned are often costly. However, it is the costly lessons of our youth that shape our character and help to develop our personality.

Oh, the memories
What a nice little short story. Even though it is meant for children I couldn't wait to find out what happened to the boy, because I could relate to his feelings of fearful anticipation and regret. A wonderful example of God's grace in our lives. Nicely done.

Fantastic!
No one does New Orleans and the bayou like Stella Cameron, but it's not just the setting that drew me into FRENCH QUARTER -- it's the characters and the layered plot. I don't want to give away too much but be prepared for surprises! Fantastic book.

good read - I recommend this book
I enjoyed this book. The love story was pretty sweet, (a bit of steamy stuff - not alot) the characters all very well drawn and interesting, and the mystery plot nicely layered. I got into the story and wanted to keep reading. There is a lot going on in this book - and not everything is wrapped up tightly in the end, which was okay with me - the important things were. The dialog was realistic, and the scenes descriptive without going overboard.I love New Orleans, and the French Quarter in particular, so the setting was wonderful. Jack's daughter Amelia was delightful! I fell in love with her. Actually, I really enjoyed all the characters - some that you wanted to be the 'bad guys', were not, and vice versa. A really enjoyable read. There are a fair amount of proofreading errors in the book - missing punctuation, and typos. They did not detract from my reading enjoyment, but I mention them for others that are unable to enjoy a book with...

i know lowered the rating from a full five stars
So I love Stella Cameron, loved this book and will probably read it again. I really wanted to give this five stars but in the other comment about grammatical errors, well sometimes its like reading a text you is from someone who's busy. The number 1 comes up for I's so I said okay easy fix.... until it became 1 meant l. I really thought it wouldn't bother me but it did. I say if this were a paperback and didn't have these typos 5 star definitely. I guess sometimes while reading I also wondered if maybe the book was too short for the plot but Stella Cameron pulled it off. Oh and I could just hear the accents Antione's accent is the best I kind of picture Ray from the Frog Princess. I might have been in New Orleans for two days but also having families from small towns or just towns of gossip the culture is pretty much dead on. I am sure with the rich culture New Orleans has it would be hard to grasp it all but the author did an amazing job. So as an ebook really hard to ignore the...

Cameron Davidson's CHESAPEAKE
Admittedly I have an attraction for all things "Chesapeake Bay" related. I had high expectations when I heard about this book of aerial photography of the Bay, and Cameron Davidson did not disappoint-with the possible exception of the fact that his beautiful work left me wanting more!

Incredibly beautiful book
I live in the widespread region of the Chesapeake watershed and consider the Chesapeake the east-coast equivalent of the West Coast's magnificent Puget Sound. This book brings out the beauty of the Bay, which is endangered, and the entire watershed. I can only hope that, through it's power, it inspires an understanding an asset that not only is beautiful but essential to our regional economy.f

Eye Candy
The perspective and photographers eye for beauty make this book a wonderful place to escape and dream. I received this as a gift and spent hours studying the photos. Then I ordered another copy to give as a gift myself. Now the book sits proudly displayed on my coffee table.

Product Description

Nearly 10,000 years ago, rising sea levels filled a meteor-impact crater to form the Chesapeake Bay, North America’s largest estuary, and the third largest in the world. The long tendrils of its watershed cover 64,000 square miles and span six states from Virginia to New York. Seventeen million people live within its boundaries. There are more than 100,000 streams, creeks, and rivers in the watershed, including 150 major rivers, with names that conjure ancient voices, such as the Susquehanna, Nanticoke, Mattaponi, and Rappahannock. These waters mix with the Atlantic Ocean in a brackish estuary that helped sustain Native Americans for centuries, but in recent years the bay has come under siege from the impacts of increasing population and industry, threatening this national treasure.

Cameron Davidson has been shooting aerial photography of the Chesapeake over a period of twenty years. The view from this privileged vantage point reveals humans’ impact on the land and the water. It yields an abstract beauty that is seldom seen, from the seven bends of the Shenandoah River to the important marshlands and islands of the watershed. Davidson’s lens captures the changing seasons traced from the headwaters of the Susquehanna at Otsego Lake in Cooperstown, New York, to the mouth of the bay at Virginia Beach. Davidson’s poetic pictures bear witness to the bay's vulnerability and the fragility of its future.

Davidson’s stunning full-color photography is arranged geographically and accompanied by the words of David Fahrenthold, who has written extensively about the Chesapeake Bay and other environmental topics for the Washington Post.

More than a Bargain Bride
Stella Cameron's versatility takes center stage in this tasty treat. In the novella Bargain Bride, heroine Beatrice Merryfield hopes to escape an arranged marriage and with the help of her friend, Sybil, runs off with the tempting Guy Falcon and his friend Armando De Silva. This is sensual Regency romance at its best. Not only is this version of Bargain Bride enjoyable, but bonus excerpts from Cameron's upcoming mystical paranormal, Darkness Bound, and the intense French Quarter (which oozes all the heat and sizzle the sultry setting can conjure up)showcase the author's wide range of talent and proves that her vivid imagination knows no bounds.
