Great Product with a Great Price
Awesome product for the price! Stabilizes very well! Surprisingly comfy for how much padding there is. The only problem about the product is the Quick Release plate that attaches to the camera looks like it will tip over out of the release plate and it feels like it could break but I have a pretty heavy camera on it. But I don't need a quick release so I just use the typical solid plate instead which works for me!

Decent, but cheap
It's good for the price, but still has issues. I got this for my t2i. with dslr lenses that don't have image stabilization, you really can't go handheld at all. that's why i got this. it's definitely not a steadicam - it will still have that "handheld" look.if you were looking to this for the quick release, that is only really good for camcorders, not other cameras. in most tripod quick releases, the little peg (the one in front of the bolt that screws into the camera) is spring loaded, so if you have a camera like a dslr that only has one hole for that, it will push the peg down. not so on the quick release on this; it doesn't budge.it's really cheap feeling, too. it's 90% plastic, and the padding is super cheap too. i just got this, so it's fine for now. i do feel like the padding may become detached eventually though because i think it is just glued on.another point is how it looks. a friend of mine pointed out how dorky it looks. so,...

Great value & functionality
I wasn't sure what I was getting to be honest - I just needed something functional to allow me to stabilize my little hand held camera and make it look a little more professional (since I'm using it for professional purposes).It gave me more than I bargained for . . . a nice, comfortable shoulder mount that gives me much more control and allows me to get up close to people without sticking my hand in their face.

Incredible
This thing is awesome. I run two film crews shooting on DSLRs in remote countries with no support with custom rails packages for their accessories, and both kits use this shoulder mount for body stabilization. It's just so versatile! Yes, it is cheap as hell. You could snap it over your knee. But you know what? If you're worried, just buy EIGHT of them for the price of half a RedRock or Cavision or whoever-else shoulder mount. I say again: incredible.

Great product for what it is
This little unit pretty much does exactly what it says. You can film without touching/holding the camera, making it easier to zoom, focus, and see where you're going. You can also "hold" the camera longer without fatigue. The brace is plastic, but feels sturdy enough to take any reasonable abuse. The foam covering looks a bit flimsy (both in terms of eventual decay or coming off), but easy to repair in that event. I bought this for DSLR video. It places the camera in a good position for viewing the screen, but a little two far away for using a LCD lounge/eye piece. After playing around a bit, I found I could reverse the middle bracket piece to position the camera perfectly. A word of perspective: this doesn't give you the smoothness of a real steadicam rig. It's attached to your body, so when you breath, it moves.

Pretty Good So Far!
I'm a pretty big guy, so this thing isn't the most comfortable, but I know that's because I'm big. It's not a flaw of the device. It's made of plastic, but it doesn't appear to be weak, and it does exactly what it's advertised to do. It's a nice little shoulder mount, especially for the price. This seems to be a rare case of getting a little more than what you paid for. I wouldn't stress the mounting arm too much with a lot of add-ons, though, because, in the end, it's plastic. Great for my T2i/550D and other lightweight DSLR's/camcorders.

Great start up rig!
I must say that for the price I am very impressed with this item. It feels sturdy, and it's very customizable and flexible. I use it with an Iphone4 inside an MCam, and it fits on fantastically. The other fun thing about this is that there are littl holes and tripod mounts all over this thing. Someone like me, that likes to really play with what I have and change it around, this is very exciting.The only thing this is missing is a rod system for mounting a follow focus or matte box. But if you don't need that, this will do exactly what you need it to do. A really great buy!

Great buy for the price
I ordered this rig solely because I needed something to help stabilize my shots and didn't have more than $100 to spend. I didn't expect a whole lot from it, but was pleasantly surprised.Pros:* It's very sturdy considering the materials and the price. I have no problems trusting it with my GH1, though I might be a bit wary with something significantly heavier (or more expensive).* Very comfortable to use.* Very versatile. I can customize all the angles and positioning to fit me, which is nice since I have a relatively small frame.* Folds to be very compact, small enough to fit into most camera bags.* Plenty of 1/4-20 mounting points for accessories (sound recorders, monitors, etc.).* Looks professional enough that you wouldn't be embarrassed to use it around clients or actors, etc. (unlike a lot of DIY or other cheap rigs).Cons:* Would be nice if there was an easier way to add counterweight when using it as a shoulder...

I have just recently purchased the Premium Movie Kit Shoulder Mount from cowboy studios and I can offer the following review:When I saw this camera mount I really liked it. Go out and buy a 7 - 10 pound ankle weight and velcro it through the channel on the back and it will balance perfectly - like you don't even have a camera in front of you!High build quality.Could use some sort of kick stand, and would benefit from making spare parts available to mount things to it.**ADDED**The product is great. The support is horrible. I wanted to buy spare parts for this to mount stuff to, and after 4 emails and 5 calls over two weeks, the people over there just couldn't get their act together.

Good for filming DSLR
I was effy about buying this product because it was cheap for a shoulder support system. When i received it today, i assembled the parts right away and used it. Everything was perfect, I liked how sturdy this shoulder support is and how my Canon 7D Screen is right in front of me. If you're looking for a cheap shoulder support for a DSLR. This is one perfect product. Will update this review further when i use it more.Update:The shoulder mount has holes on the side of the camera plate that can be used to hooking on external equipments. I bought a http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HD3G6Q for my Canon 7D while using the mount. It was perfect. I had no trouble using that viewfinder with the should mount. Durable product.

Opteka CXS-1 Video Shoulder Stabilizer Support System for DSLR
I am new to DSLR video shooting, so I have no experience with other rigs. The build quality of the rig was better than I thought it would be. It was very easy to assemble. It took me less than 10 minutes to put together. I shoot with a 5D MkII, and defenitely holds it with ease. I do not feel uneasy mounting my camera to this rig. I tested it using a 17-40, 50, and 70-300mm lenses. The video was shakey while walking. It could be due to my lack of inexperience of using a rig. While standing still and panning, the video looks pretty good. I wasn't expecting it to turn me into a pro videographer in 5 minutes. I normally shoot holding the camera to my left eye. It was more comftorable holding the rig on my right shoulder and looking through my right eye. For $99.99, I wasn't expecting miracles, and I think it has potential as my level of shooting video is new.47th St Photo the vendor who I got this from through Amazon, was fabulous. The package arrived overnight...

REALLY GOOD
Most People wouldn't buy this given the poor reviews here (I almost didn't buy because of this), go to adorama's site to see better reviews, I'm glad I did also check this video review. [...]So far this is the best bang for the buck, and it is sturdy, for the one person who doesn't get where the parts supposed to go, I guess you shouldn't be doing film, One of the parts is an eye elevator or riser for small cameras that brings the camera to eye level, the other is a bracket with a cold shoe, that allows you to place both a mic or light near the camera when you record.
