One Of The Greatest Games Ever...
It's gonna be a great Christmas this year! Banjo-Tooie is without doubt one of the greatest games I've ever played! It's one of those all-too-rare (no pun intended) games that constantly puts a smile on your face and a glow in your heart, and reminds you just how fun games can be. The graphics are phenomenal - each landscape is so epic and beautiful to look at that you could live there! The size of the levels is surely on the very limit of the machine's capability and the levels themselves are supremely designed. The gameplay is a perfectly balanced blend of action and puzzles which are interspersed by some great little fun and wacky mini-games (including some hilarious 1st-person shooting sections like Goldeneye) and awesome bosses (just wait until you see the giant, snake-like welding torch Weldar - surely a candidate for most brilliantly original boss of all time). There is also a varied set of multiplayer games for up to 4 players which stand up as good games in their own right...

A must-have game for any N64 owner
I was a huge Banjo Kazooie fan - the dialogue was fun, the action was great, and the bizarre creatures you turned into and puzzles to solve were amazing. I wondered if the Tooie sequel could live up to the original - and it does! The graphics are great. The characters each have their own personalities, and now each can become quite a range of other shapes and sizes in order to get through the game. It's not just a find-100-of-this game either - there are combinations of things to do, and puzzles to solve, creatures to rescue and mazes to exploreThe mini-games are amazingly fun by themselves. My boyfriend got hooked on the kickball game and kept going back for more! There are more egg varieties, more jinjos of various colors, more of everything. Each world is nicely put together with its own theme, with all sorts of really funny things going on in it. These developers didn't just work on honing the gameplay so it was perfect - they made every aspect, from the way the graphics...

Kart racing at it's finest.
Story / Level Design:The racers and stages are all from the Sega universe, not just Sonic's world. It's not an evenly weighted ratio with more Sonic levels available than others. It makes sense since the typical gamer is only really familiar with the blue needle mouse. The tracks are brilliant. The stage designs feel like F-Zero / Wipeout meshed with a high definition coloring book wrapped in familiar surroundings.Controls:The 360's controls are sharp and responsive. The button layout isn't in any way cumbersome or complicated to master.RT = gasLT = driftA = weapon dropDrift through corners to build boost. When airborne, LT again to do tricks.Gameplay:The game engine isn't something completely revolutionary ... it's an updated Mario Kart. Much like the plumber's clones (Crash Team Racing, Diddy Kong Racing, NASCAR Kart Racing, etc), there are power-ups (missiles, stationary bombs, screen...

Love Mario Kart Wii...but Sonic Is Even Better! Here's Why:
Since we got the Wii a year ago, we had Mario Kart from day one and love it! It was probably the premier karting game, so it is nearly impossible to describe this game without comparing the two. I also have not tried the Wii version of the game, but considered buying it.We got an Xbox for Christmas and the trailer for Sonic & SEGA Racing looked pretty fun, but I was torn over getting it for the Wii or Xbox, so I downloaded the demo on Xbox Live and tried it out. My kids loved it, so I decided to get the game for Xbox so that we can race in Hi-Def and play against friends over Xbox Live as well.First of all, the real game is WAY better than the demo! SEGA could have sold more with a better demo, in my opinion. Why is it more fun than Mario Kart Wii? Well, I think the racing action is a little easier on the Xbox controller than the Wii-mote. Additionally, each character has their own unique abilities and "All Star" moves, which are hilarious for some of...

Finally! A Sonic game that's actually good and it's racing to boot!
If you keep up on video games at all, the words: "Sonic all star racing" immediately strike dread, fear, sadness, frustration, or disappointment in your heart. How many Sonic games have promised to bring the blu blur back to his former glory but failed utterly? Racing games in particularly have been hard for Sonic to nail (ironic, isn't it?) with the last two "Sonic Riders" being tolerable but still providing enough frustration and disappointment to be worthwhile entries in the Sonic Hall of Infamy. Apparently, Sonic needs some outside help.Enter Sonic All star racing. Arguably the best kart-racer since Mario Kart Double Dash.-Smooth, precise, controls? Check-Plenty of variety ins racers? Check (with the exception of Big)-awesomely cool, zany race tracks? Check (almost too much so)-crazy cool unique catch up moves? check-local four player mode? check-Easy to learn? check-plenty of depth for masters? check-no insane...

A Great Game, Not Just for Kids
In Viva Pinata you have inherited a garden in a fantasy world populated by living pinatas and an assortment of odd characters. Your mission is to build your garden to attract pinatas to live there. Everything you grow in your garden, including the pinatas, vegetables, flowers, and trees, can be sold for chocolate coins. You can use the coins to buy more seeds and grow more plants or to otherwise improve your garden. Viva Pinata is like a cross between Pokemon and The Sims and virtual pets, but I found that the result is greater than the sum of its parts! This is a sandbox game of the best sort. You can make whatever decisions you want to and your garden can look however you want. You have the ability to dig ponds, grow grass, build houses for your pinatas, and all sorts of other activities that I am still discovering several hours into the experience. The decisions you make about how your garden develops will determine the kind of pinata who want to live there. The...

Ground-Breaking
Viva Pinata - where should one begin on describing the game's deepest complexities? In layman's terms - Viva Pinata is not just a kid's game. In fact, it requires higher thinking and could easily be problematical to younger audiences. I've been playing this game for a few weeks now, and while I'm not playing it religiously, it's still wickedly addictive. Many people are referring and comparing Viva Pinata to Nintendo's Animal Crossing. While the games are similar in many facets, they're just as different as they are the same. I was never a fan of Animal Crossing, never. I traded the game almost immediately. After all the hype, acclaim and positive reviews, I thought Animal Crossing would be a very safe bet. I was wrong. After reading about Viva Pinata, I thought this would be Animal Crossing all over again, so I approached very cautiously. Again, much praise and positive reviews. So, I took the risk. This time however, it was a purchase I'm more than...

Both sweet and sour piñatas will enter your garden. View larger.

Creating a living garden

It's your very own world. Your choice of contents will determine which of the piñata species are attracted to your world, since they all have individual requirements. Sowing grass, digging ponds, planting flowers and growing trees all affect which of the unique piñatas you will see. It's not just about plants, either; there is a whole range of ornaments and structures that could be decisive. Your reward for creating an appealing paradise is to watch the piñatas visit and eventually reside there, which is where the fun really starts.

Getting to know and understand the personalities and requirements of your piñata is essential if you want them to stay happy and thrive. Make your world their ideal paradise, and they'll want to raise a family and expand your community. Players decide how much help they want from the local guides, shopkeepers and work force. Go it alone or get them involved as you choose. Once you have resident piñatas, you can begin to personalize your loyal community. Piñatas can be individually named and given their own personally designed tag to put on display as a declaration of their home turf. And the customization doesn't end there. You can make the colorful critters more distinctive by customizing them with all kinds of costumes and accessories.

A thriving community awaits

The "Viva Piñata" community is a rewarding place to be, whether you remain within the boundaries of your own world or venture out into the real world or your friend's piñata world via Xbox Live, the first and only global, unified online console games service. Via the Xbox Live online community, players can contact other gamers to lend a hand, lay down a competitive challenge or trade items. Plus, it's not just new piñata species that are drawn to your world; untamed sour piñatas with bad attitudes and troublemaking ruffians do their worst to spoil your creation and must be dealt with. Maintaining harmony within a growing community isn't always easy when rivalries, illness, injuries and even candy-spilling fights occur. If players turn their backs, who knows what their piñatas will do?

Special edition extras

Both kids and adults can break into the two-disc Special Edition "Viva Piñata" Xbox 360 game with added bonuses for the whole family to enjoy. The Special Edition game, available for a limited time, will include playable demos of the season's hottest family-friendly titles and an episode from the "Viva Piñata" animated series. With this full-le! ngth episode of the colorful animated series, Kids can experience Piñata Island for themselves, where multitudes of happy, colorful piñatas live the sweet life.

Highly Addictive Gameplay
When I first heard about this game, it reminded me of Animal Crossing for the Nintendo Gamecube. I never liked Animal Crossing because the game was just a bunch of item collecting.I'm glad to say that Viva Pinata is 100% better than Animal Crossing. You're basically building an ecosystem of pinatas in the game, there are alot of tradeoffs based on your actions. You're even capable of sending items from your garden to people on your Friends list, which is a neat extra feature. To give you an idea of how fun and addictive this game is, I bought Gears of War earlier in the week (one of the best games I've played in a long time) ... and I ended up playing Viva Pinata instead of Gears over the weekend.

Banjo Kazooie Controls

Thanks for stopping by. Dave Johnson is an Animator and Art Director at Microsoft Studios, a graduate of Animation Mentor and the Art Institute of Seattle, and a soon to be graduate of iAnimate. Dave's list of game credits include "Homeworld: Cataclysm," "Ground Control," "Kameo: Elements of Power," "Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts," "Viva Pinata," "Alan Wake," "Kinectimals," "Beards and Beaks," and "Toy Soldiers," just to name a few. Originally I was going to have it be a zombie at the table, but I’ve always wanted to play around with the Dennis rig from iAnimate, and thought he’d fit great as well. Poke around on the site, and feel free to drop Dave a line if you should see fit.

With games like Banjo Kazooie, Star Fox Adventures on Gamecube, and now Diddy Kong Racing, Rare certainly wasn’t afraid of taking a lot inspiration from Nintendo when making games, but they got away with it because there games were generally... What made Goldeneye doubly impressive was that it did two things most people never though possible, it was both a good first person shooter on a console, and an outstanding movie licensed game that not only played well compared to other game, but... I have previously covered my top 10 favorite games on the Gamecube, and this week I am going to count down my 10 favorite games on my favorite console of all time, the Nintendo 64. Rare was by far the most successful of the N64 era, and there first attempt, Banjo Kazooie, is still one of the best examples of the genre. First Person Shooters, console shooters in particular, have really come a long way in the time since Goldeneye first came out, but at the time it was amazing. Let’s get the Rare train rolling early with Banjo Kazooie. Another Rare game, and another game that “borrowed” from a popular Nintendo franchise. Banjo Kazooie (Rare, 1998).

Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts lacks the humour and charm of the earlier games but makes up for it with its ability to create hundreds of insane vehicles. The collection aspects of the previous games remain intact with the player taking part in races and other challenges to win Jiggies, vehicle parts or notes.
